The photographs of Lower Manhattan with the Twin Towers burning were made from the terrace of the building where I lived, on the corner of Park Avenue South and 28th Street, and also from Church Street. Right after the impact of the aircraft, I made the trip to photograph the Towers closer on the subway’s line 6 to the station next to the Brooklyn Bridge. When we climbed up the stairs we heard a brutal crash. That was when the first tower collapsed. We walked into the World Trade Center. As we went down Church Street, watching the only tower still standing, the police pushed us towards the North of the city.
