For a year, between 2009 and 2010, I did a series of portraits of teenagers, between the ages of 13 and 19, in their bedrooms, in their own world.
In the footnote I included the answer to the question: “What do you expect from life?”
Back then, my daughter was 18 years old and at home there were many boys and girls coming in and out of the house, so that sparked my curiosity and desire to take pictures of them: I started to notice how they moved, how the expression of their faces changed, how they used makeup and dressed… At that very moment, when the economic crisis that broke out in 2008 and it was becoming deeper and more serious each passing day, I wanted to know what they expected from life.
